The Ga-Pila Community Development Trust (ACDT) was established in 2016 to drive the social and economic development of the community by forging mutually beneficial partnerships. The Trust is guided by the Integrated Community Development Plan (ICDP), created with the community and for their own benefit. An instrument that will ensure that the community individually and collectively become architects of their future.

Ga-Pila is a community with an interesting history, closely tied to that of the Anglo American Platinum (AAP) mine in Mogalakwena. Also known as Sterkwater, Ga-Pila, falls under Mogalakwena Local Municipality in Waterberg District, Limpopo (Figure 1). The Mogalakwena Local Municipality is located in the north-eastern part of the Waterberg district. It is largely rural in nature with some semi-urban settlements. The municipality identifies key thrusts of development that include tourism, SMME development and industrial development, with mining remaining the dominant economic sector.
